This year San Mateo-Foster City begins offering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for children born between November 2 and December 2, 2007.   TK classes are located on five elementary school campuses (Audubon, Baywood, Beresford, Parkside and San Mateo Park) and directed by Principal-on-Special-Assignment Alicia Heneghan.

Thanks to San Mateo and Foster City voters’ support of Measure L, $175 million in school facility modernization, new classrooms, and new facilities are finished or almost complete. Over the course of the 2011-2012 school year and through the summer, the following school projects were completed:

  • Audubon Elementary portable demolition project.  A new 10 classroom building is scheduled for construction beginning in the summer of 2013.
  • Baywood Elementary new LGI (multi-purpose room) and 10 classroom building
  • Bowditch Middle School roofing replacement, siding, and painting
  • College Park Elementary modernization
  • Fiesta Gardens Elementary modernization (@Knolls campus until end of October)
  • Foster City Elementary modernization
  • Knolls Elementary ADA (American Disabilities Act) upgrades
  • Meadow Heights Elementary roofing replacement
  • Turnbull Preschool modernization

Schools still in need of modernization will be addressed in an upcoming bond issue.

San Mateo-Foster City School District’s teachers, staff, principals, and administrators genuinely care about the success of every child.  We work smart, and we work hard to find the best way to educate every child in safe and modern facilities.

As the new school year begins, celebrate the great work happening for children in the San Mateo-Foster City schools. You won’t find a better choice!

Sincerely,

Dr. Cynthia Simms
