Due to upcoming modernization work and construction projects planned at other school sites within the District, SMFC has decided to use Knolls School as an interim housing campus for Fiesta Gardens International School (FGIS). Additionally there was two (2) portable restroom building and eight (8) portable classroom buildings installed to accommodate all FGIS students.

The plans for the upgrades at Knolls School were approved by the Division of State Architects (DSA). The project was bid on June 16, 2011 .  The Board of Trustees (BOT) approved the Knolls ADA Upgrades and Transitional Housing Project on July 14, 2011.
