CONSTRUCTION FACILITIES INTERNS (May 2013 – September 2013)
The San Mateo-Foster City School is looking for a Construction Facilities Intern.
Work on an Employment Agreement
$10.00/hr
DEFINITION:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Construction Facilities Intern provides support to project managers for Measure L Facilities improvement projects including coordination with site administration to minimize disruption to the school sites and contractors and to ensure compliance with contract requirements. This position also requires the ability to organize and maintain all contract documentation with close attention to schedules and deadlines.

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS:
This position will assist as required with the general administration and management of the work to support the Director of Facilities and project managers. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Knowledge of and experience in the construction of school facilities.
•Knowledge of project and construction management
•Demonstrated problem-solving ability. Be creative and innovative
•Capable of using computer management software including graphic and tabular presentation of data, record keeping, word processing, and spreadsheets
•Ability to communicate well with staff and community
•High level of interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
•Self-disciplined person who is flexible and can manage multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently working on Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management Degree.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As a member of the facilities team the Construction Facilities Intern would provide support to project managers for selected Measure L Facilities Improvement Program projects, general administration of the projects in progress. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment in managing assigned projects and activities conduct facilities studies and carry on several simultaneous assignments, with close attention to schedules and deadlines.

Assist with the review of design documents for temporary facilities, staging, and construction phasing, progress reports, schedules, drawings, contracts, time and material cost accounts.

Assist as required with the general administration of the work. Coordinate with the District Maintenance and Operations personnel, as well as with District staff regarding the impact of construction activities on school operations.

•Maintain all documents, progress reports, schedules, drawings, contracts, time and material cost accounts, payroll certifications and other records as required
•Assist as required with the general administration of the work and progress of contractors Monitor contractor labor and materials for adequacy to meet schedules
•Coordinate taking occupancy of completed projects
•Coordinate warranty work
●Other duties as assigned

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sitting and standing for long periods of time, kneeling, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, twisting, crouching and squatting; operate a computer and keyboard; demonstrate manual dexterity to operate equipment; lift horizontally and vertically; maintain visual acuity to review written documentation; hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Use of hands and feet, ability to push, pull and drag. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Salary $8.00/hour
1 position located at the corner of Castor and Beach Park Blvd. in Foster City
Hours:    Monday through Friday from 7:30am-8:30am
              and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:15pm-3:15pm
              and Wednesday from 12:15pm-1:15pm

Job Description
The physical therapist facilitates the evaluation, identification, prevention, correction, and treatment of children within the school environment.  The physical therapist addresses difficulties in gross motor performance, motor control, sensorimotor coordination, posture and balance, activities of daily living and functional mobility, and environment adaptions and assistive devices to assist students in accessing their educational placement.

Salary Range 41-44 ($13.76/hr.)
Children’s Center Teacher Permit required

SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR 1 - EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN 
Salary Range 39 ($13.08/hr)
Definition
Under general supervision, to assist teachers in special education classroom operations; to assist teachers in instruction and the reinforcement of instruction of special education students individually and in small groups; to provide instructional support including record keeping; to perform routine clerical duties; and to perform related work as required.

SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR I – EXTENDED DAY
Salary Range 35 ($11.88/hr)
Definition
Under general supervision, to assist teacher in planning, supervision, curriculum development and classroom arrangement, organization and maintenance; to provide instructional support and learning enrichment, using developmentally appropriate practices and materials; to monitor child safety, perform housekeeping functions, and assist in the physical care and feeding of children; and to perform related work as required.

SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR I– PRESCHOOL
Salary Range 35 ($11.88/hr)
Positions range from 2 to 8 hours (Turnbull Child Development Center)
Definition
Under general supervision, to assist teacher in planning, supervision, curriculum development and classroom arrangement, organization and maintenance; to provide instructional support and learning enrichment, using developmentally appropriate practices and materials; to monitor child safety, perform housekeeping functions, and assist in the physical care and feeding of children; and to perform related work as required.  CPR and First Aid required.  Bilingual Spanish desirable.

SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR II – EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
Salary Range 41 (Entry Level $13.76/hr)

Under general supervision, to provide specialized instructional, behavioral, physical, and medical assistance to exceptional students with severe handicaps; to operate a specialized learning center for special needs students; to provide instructional record keeping support; to perform routine clerical duties; and to perform related work as required.  CPR and First Aid required.
