Parkside Montessori Preschool

Where children:
· Develop an enthusiasm for learning,
     · Respect living things and appreciate all cultures,
           · Develop self-discipline and independence,
                 · Become cooperative, articulate and lifelong
                        problem solvers.

Our Parkside Montessori Preschool is founded on the fundamental tenet that a child learns best within a social environment that supports each individual’s unique development.  We believe that:

  • All children have absorbent minds

  • All children pass through sensitive periods

  • All children can learn

  • All children learn through work and play

  • All children want to be independent

  • All children pass through stages of development

Our Montessori curriculum promotes the development of social skills, emotional growth, physical coordination, as well as cognitive skills.  Our holistic curriculum allows the child to experience the joy of learning while acquiring knowledge and skills. The multi-sensory and sequential Montessori materials provide for independent and self-correcting learning.

The specially trained and caring Montessori preschool teachers serve as facilitators of learning.  The teacher is the designer of the environment, resource person, role model, demonstrator and observer of each child’s growth and development.  Curriculum and instruction are individualized and are based on the interests, needs and developmental level of each child.

“There is nothing in the mind that was not first in the senses.”

“The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown.”
